How it works

From first call to launch, without the chaos.

A four step design process, then development on a staging link with a progress update every working day.

Design process

What are the four design steps before Liquid?

Step 01

Theme creation

We design two distinct variations across three key sections, varying typography and structural layout. You choose a direction before anyone commits three weeks to it. This is the single biggest reason projects do not go sideways in week three.

Step 02

Design system

Once the direction is approved, we build the system: typography scale, colour palette, spacing and grid, icon guidelines, components and supporting elements. Everything downstream is assembled from this, which is why your store stays consistent as it grows.

Step 03

High fidelity design

Full page designs built from the system. Website first, then mobile responsive. You review each page as it is finished rather than receiving everything at the end.

Step 04

Prototype

Approved pages are wired into a clickable prototype before development starts. Interaction problems get caught in Figma, where fixing them costs an hour instead of a day.

Development

Then we build it.

Week 1

Foundations

Theme base, design tokens in code, global components, header and footer.

Week 2 to 3

Templates

Home, collection, product, cart and account templates built as modular sections with theme editor schema.

Week 3

QA

Cross browser, cross device, accessibility pass, Core Web Vitals check and content population.

Week 4

Launch and handover

Redirect map, DNS, live QA, then documentation and a recorded walkthrough for your team.

Communication

What "daily updates" actually means.

A short written update every working day covering what was completed, what is next and anything blocked. A staging link that always reflects the current state. A shared Slack channel or email thread with the designer and developer in it, not a ticket queue.

Process FAQ

How collaboration actually works.

What do you need from us to start?

Store access, brand assets, product photography and one decision maker who can approve design. The last one matters most. Projects slip when approval needs four people to agree.

How many rounds of revisions do I get?

Two rounds per stage as standard and stages are gated so you approve before we move on. In practice the two direction step at the start means revisions are refinements rather than restarts.

What if we need to pause the project?

Tell us early. A pause is fine and we will reschedule. A pause discovered through silence is what pushes a delivery date and a moved date is the one thing we work hardest to avoid.

Do you work in Figma?

Yes. All design work happens in Figma and you get access to the file, including the design system, at handover. You own it.

When do we see something real?

The staging link goes up in week one. You watch the store take shape rather than waiting for a reveal.

What happens if you miss the delivery date?

You get 10% off. It has not happened yet and the terms are in every proposal.
